No B.S. for us!

Came home to 2 boxes today from RXBAR! I love how they sent us the kids bars! Kate, the girl I spoke with over at RX agreed that they are the better size bar to ride with us! Thanks Kate for hooking us up. We are set with bars for each MS ride this year!

I can’t wait to see Dayle’s living room next Thursday when everything is brought together! We have such amazing support so far from our vendors, it makes dreading the TX ride with no training not as bad 🤪🤷🏻‍♀️🚴🏻‍♀️

Butt’r Makes it Better

Wow! Thanks Judi from Chamois Butt’r for hooking Dayle and I up for 2018 of our journey! Based on our initial conversation last week, I was expecting a few tubes to cover us for the rides… but I think it’s safe to say we are set for training as well! Thank you!

I highly recommend Chamois Butt’r on the bike. They offer larger options, the tubes you see in the below picture as well as on the go packets! There is also the stick that I’m super excited to try, and washing my kit in the kit wash from now on! Although I love my sport wash detergent, a wash designed for the Lycra in our kit seems the better way to go!

Visit your local bike shop (@Southbridge Bicycles) for your Chamois Butt’r!

Thank you WordPress!

If you don’t ask you’ll never know, and you sure won’t ever receive..

Dayle and I have had great success with our vendor support (we will give a full update for ya on vendors most likely toward the end of next week – but this one is huge!), people are incredible generous. While I had been doing some of my reaching out, there was no direct way to connect with WordPress, so I just went with the flow and asked a tech support… one of the two women who responded to me finally offered to pass on my requests.

A few days later, yesterday, I received an email back from Kris who said of course they wanted to support us, why wouldn’t they! To be exact “It would be our pleasure to sponsor you on this journey. What a great undertaking!” Without just asking, this never would have happened. And so… Dayle and I now have a real domain name! no more! This started my Monday off right that’s for sure 🙂

Thanks Kris and the WordPress team!

Fit yo KIT 2 at Southbridge Bicycles

Today was a big day. Huge. First, it was our TVR FitYoKit2 at Southbridge Bicycles (one of our fabulous sponsors, ala Jon Steppic) with Liv/Giant bike demos (Chris is the man) and new kit fit with our new sponsor, Primal Wear, (shout out to Stephen!). Ron ‘Pediln Ron’ Tifosi rep and Bicycle Talk podcast and 91.7 WHUS FM radio show host came out to say hi and brought some Tifosi selects to try on (thank you also to Jorge), and Cake Gypsy (Avon, CT) donated cupcakes for our cookout. We had a few goals today. Have a good outside ride, recruit 10 new riders, get the new kit all squared away, get the finishing touches on our new bikes, and have a great cookout bike season opener at Southbridge Bicycles. Well, we got most of them.
The group ride rolled out at 10am on what was the first nice day in New England since January. We (ok, I) had high hopes for an awesome ride outside today. We (again, me) were determined to get out there and put the training and FTPs to work. It’s been mostly trainer rides for us; putting in the hours in the basement/inside on the trainer and in the gym so we were looking forward to finally getting outside. Rachael’s been fortunate to get out a few times already. I haven’t been outside since November. Crazy, right? I carbed the hell out of myself last night and this morning, in the zone all ready to go. Rachael and the TVR crew rocked a 23 miler while I rocked 4. Yup. 4. My left pedal and cleat were not cooperating. I kissed the ground and ended up taking a newbie in the parking lot to practice clipping in and out so she can be ready for CCG in June while Jon worked his magic. Rachael, making sure everyone was ok and together, turned around to take a quick headcount and hit the curb with some road rash with 1/8 of a mile to go. We’re both ok. This is post #2, and you’ll catch on quick…never a dull moment with the two of us.
Aside from the ride, what an awesome day. We had a great recruiting day with TVR- at least 8 new riders joining us for the Cape Cod Getaway (CCG) on June 30. We set a goal of 10. Win. Southbridge Bicycle’s doors were open all day and had some sales, and spent the day with friends old and new. We told our 2 girls, 2 bikes, 50 states story and our WHY to for a local new write up, met with our sponsors, and got our bikes all squared away for Texas. Great response on the new TVR kit by Primal Wear from everyone.
Next up on the list – how the hell do we get our bikes into our bike boxes for Texas? When the hell can we ride outside again? 12 days to go. We got this!

Training, Sponsors, and Preparing!

Howdie!  I guess we need to start picking up some Texan language, as the journey is about to begin in 2 1/2 short weeks at the BP150 Houston to Austin ride.  But Dayle and I have a bit of preparing to do before we head out…

Riding outdoors would be a good start hu?  We are beginning the bikeMS season at BP150 with day 1 riding 102 miles and have all but no outdoor miles under our belt as of right now.  This weather has not helped.  Thankfully we will have 75 degree weather for this Saturday, April 14 as Southbridge Bicycles is hosting Team Velox Rota for Fit yo Kit2, group rides and team social.  On Sunday we are participating in the Midnight Marathon Ride, pedaling the route of the Boston Marathon.  It’s a start right? I’m sure we will be ok, it’s just like riding a bike!

But we are also thankful for the many sponsors that are already teaming up with us as we adventure out on this journey.  Jon Steppic, owner of Southbridge Bicycle has been our number one go to.  In 2017, Jon’s team joined TVR for the Cape Cod Getaway, and Southbridge became our bike shop sponsor.  So this year as Dayle and I were in search of new bikes it was fitting to go through Jon.  Ironically, we both ended up in LIV bikes.  And everything happened from there!

As we continue to blog over the years on our long journey we will be sharing a lot with you, plugging our sponsors, those supporting us, and much more.  This shout out with be quick – more of just a list, but just wait till you learn about the generosity of so many people in the bicycling industry… not just with bikes, but nutrition, products, gear, and airlines!  Oh, so much more to come on this topic… most likely we will have multiple initial posts on it… but here its is…

PRIMAL Wear – Not only is Primal Wear our new kit company for our custom Team Velox Rota kits, but Stephen is hooking Dayle and I up with our off the bike travel / team village clothing.  Not only will we be representing a brand that stands behind the National MS Society, but we will be two fashionable chicks out there on and off the bike!

Topical EDGE – BEST topical product I’ve ever used, better training, fastest recovery ever, and and overall amazing customer support! thanks Neil!

Chamois Butt’r – here’s to comfortable rides taking care of our lady parts!

VEGA – the best recovery protein in travel packs so we continue to get the greatest nutrition in us at all times.

JetBlue – now this one is pretty damn amazing… Dayle and I get to travel with ease as JetBlue will be taking care of our bikes on every trip that we have to fly to!  JetBlue has an amazing Customer Care team, and we are lucky to have their support as we support the NMSS!
